Thrash 'Til Death "Live In Concert" DVD
Katon W. De Pena has been a friend of D-Day's Revenge from pretty much the beginning. Ever since the great Krista G. did her review of the CD "The New Age Of Terror", I've had some sort of sporadic email contact and he's a great guy. That's also when we got one of our better interviews.
Once Krista burned me a copy of that CD (sorry Katon...) I fell in love and often drooled at the thought of seeing them perform live.
While this is still just a taped show, it's a great example of what I can expect when I ever get that chance!
"Thrash 'Til Death" is a MUST HAVE for anyone interested in or just plain misses good old-school thrash METAL. The main bulk of this is from the Minneapolis Mayhem Festival 2005. There is also a bunch of bonus footage from various festivals around the globe.
At the risk of offending our friends, I was actually quite surprised at how proffesional this looked. From the sound to the lighting and the overall production, it is a great fucking DVD.
But even with all of the kick ass songs and performances, I must note my favorite part of the whole thing.
Just before the song "Bombs Of Death", Katon is talking and looking out over the crowd and suddenly spots someone. He says, "I remember you! You're the guy from the Chicago..what was it? The Chicago Classic Metalfest! You are badass! You're from Kentucky or some shit like that, right? Thanks for coming out!"
While first off, I must give props to anyone from Kentucky who makes his way from there to Chicago and Minneapolis for shows.... but also, I just thought it was the ultimate of "cool" for Katon to actually note that in the middle of addressing the crowd. That's just another example of how the REAL metal Gods do it.
Once again, I'll say this is a MUST HAVE for any fan of real metal. It's very entertaining and will have you breaking your neck from the first note.
