D-Day speaks with Metal Maiden!
D-Day's Revenge...
Speak Your Mind!
I've recently had an interview with the Virginia Metal Alliance... so why not cross the border and see what's happening with the West Virginia side of things? Meet the WV Metal Maiden!
She has some really cool band interviews on her site and continues to search out more heavy metal heavywieghts to give the readers updates about what's happening with their favorite bands.
I wanted to ask a few questions and introduce her to you all, so read up and enjoy...

D-Day: What got you started with interviewing bands?

WV Metal Maiden:I set up the myspace page with the intention of just promoting and advertising shows around the area. While making a show list I saw that one of my favorite bands Byzantine was playing in Morgantown WV. My husband asked me if I could interview them, would I. He set it up, I interviewed them, and I’ve been hooked ever since.

D-Day: How long have you been doing it?

WV Metal Maiden: About a year and a half.

D-Day: Do you have certain venues that you attend to interview bands or do you travel all around?

WV Metal Maiden: I pretty much go wherever I can. So far mainly just WV and bordering states but I would go farther if the travel funds were available.

D-Day: How do you get the interviews set up?

WV Metal Maiden: All different ways, sometimes they are set up through myspace, many times at shows in person, sometimes I have to discuss it with the bands manager, and every so often you have to ambush the band and put them on the spot.

D-Day: Is there a certain interview or several that are your favorites or most anticipated?

WV Metal Maiden:  I’ve enjoyed all of them. My interview with Randy Blythe was really fun because the man has an incredible spirit and high energy.  Also, the interview with Doc from God Forbid was pretty monumental because right in the middle of the interview , some guy on the street pops up out of nowhere and tries to sell us drugs, on film.

D-Day: You don't have to name names.... but have you ever gotten an interview that had you thinking, "This was a mistake.." ?

WV Metal Maiden: Nah, not so far. I’ve made a lot of mistakes during interviews but I feel that every band deserves their five minutes of fame and even if it’s a band whose style I don’t particularly care for, other people might so they deserve the exposure just as much as anyone else. I try to keep things centered on the metal scene in general and not just the part of it I like, because there are so many different preferences.

D-Day: What would you tell someone that was considering doing what you do? Any advice?

WV Metal Maiden: If it’s something they are passionate about, I’d say go for it. But if they’re doing it to get rich and famous don’t waste your time.

D-Day: Thank you again for speaking with us! Any final words or plugs for the readers?

WV Metal Maiden: Thanx for the support and keep supporting your local and underground bands!
