D-Day plays with Barbie!
D-Day's Revenge...
Speak Your Mind!
Here at D-Day's Revenge, we're always looking out for our metal faithful!! In this case, it's Switchblade Barbie!

I'm truly hoping that we can follow her travels and experiences and get a feel of what it's like to not only look for a bandmate, but live out a metal life! A D-Day's "Rockumentary" if you will. She's looking for a female guitar player to fill out her band, and we'll follow and possibly help that search!

i've sent  some questions to get things started and she answered better than some of the supposed "pros".

Join me in welcoming this future star to the world of D-Day's Revenge!

I hope we will not only keep up with her quest for a band, but also her quests in general.....

Female guitar players.... pay atention!

D-Day: Thanks for talking with the Revenge! What type of band are you looking to form?

Barbie: Well, currently I'm looking to form an all female raunchy rock-n-roll band. I'm really drawn by the whole femme fatale empowerment of babes who rock and dominate the music world.....I love all genres of music so I'd like to find diverse females who aren't afraid to experiment with sound and creativity in ways that aren't mainstream....and put on a full blown theatrical production, not just get on stage and jam. Looking for nitty-gritty rocker mamas who think outside of the box :-)~

D-Day: Who are some of your favorite bands?

Barbie:  I listen to SO MANY different genres of music it's hard to classify a 'favorite' but to name a few....I love The Doors, Hole, John Lee Hooker, Tyla and the Dogs D'Amour, any all female band, Bikini Kill, L7...I love heavy metal, jazz, you name it!

D-Day: What experience have you had thus far playing drums?

Barbie: My experience playing the drums has been nothing other than awesome! I knew in the 4th grade I wanted to be a drummergirl. I started playing in the school band in 5th and played clear through grade school and junior high and into high school. I bought my first set in my early 20's and have been bangin' away ever since. Everyone has been so incredibly supportive of me and always encouraging to chase my dreams....I think female drummers are such a rare commodity that people are drawn to the thought of a chick who brutalizes a drumset :-) It's definitely a full body contact sport.

D-Day: What  qualities in a guitar player are you looking for?

Barbie: The qualities I'm looking for in a female guitar player....Well, image is a big thing to me....not saying she has to be the hottest thing on earth but better have some style and edge to her for sure. The guitar playing skills can lack if she looks good! HaHaHa, how shallow is that, huh? In my dreamland she'd wail on the guitar, look cool and be open minded to delving into theatrics and some song writing abilities. After 8 months of searching to no avail, I'm almost to the point of putting a guy in drag!

D-Day: How serious are you willing to become? If you started playing and suddenly had an offer to tour, would you be willing and able to drop everything and do it?

Barbie: In regards to how serious I am with the music. First and foremost I'm a rockin' mama (literally) I have 2 sons who are everything to me and I'd never disrupt their lives to run off and chase the dream or machine. I'd really love to create my own rockin' world right here where I live....weekend touring would be fine, but I'm not all about being sucked up by the industry to lose my soul and everything I've worked so hard to create. I want to be in charge of everything in aspects to my musical career. I dont really care about being a multi-national star, I just wanna play my music and make a difference for the better in this world. I want to write songs with meaning and purpose and help people to have fun and be entertained right here where my head rests at night.

D-Day: Would it upset you to see men in the audience simply drooling over your looks more than listening to the music, or would you expect that?

Barbie: I wouldn't be upset by anyone admiring my looks or drooling as you asked, it's quite flattering to me actually. It comes with the territory of putting yourself out in the public eye, putting on hot clothes and rockin' out with your shlock out if ya know what I mean?! What's cool is they may initially be checkin' us out, but once the music starts there will be no denying that the talents outweight anything else we have to offer!

D-Day: What other projects (of any kind) are you involved with and would like to share with us?

Barbie: I currently have a couple of irons in the fire musically. I have a good friend who is quite talented and proficient in keyboarding and electronica and we've decided to pay homage to our roots out here in the Old Pueblo yet modernizing and creating something new. So we've taken her electronica and my drumming and singing and we're creating what we call "electro-billy" We're trying to work out the marriage of electronica and our country roots....yet making it cool and sexy and dance-able. An electrobilly ho-down if you please ;-)~

D-Day: Which of these female guitar players would you most identify with?

a) Lita Ford

b) Melissa Ethridge

c) Bonnie Raitt

d) Joan Jett

e) other

Barbie: I'm all about Joan Jett and Lita Ford. They are one in the same to me...strong, beautiful and beat their instruments into submission, baby! I guess I might be a little more partial to Joan Jett, she's such a bad ass. Though my favorite singer front woman is Courtney Love. I know she's received alot of flack throughout the years for her wild erratic behavior but to me that's the epitomy of rockNroll. The first time I saw Hole in concert she changed my life. Sooooo over the top, such attitude and raw energy.....  I don't care what anybody says, I'm looking for Courtney's alter ego. Until then, we'll keep on rockin' em baby!

D-Day: Thanks for sharing with us and best of luck! I hope to keep in touch and see how things are going. Any final words?

Barbie: Peace out D-Day, nothing but love for ya! Thanks for having me, XO.
