You know that old saying: "No matter how much you eat, there's always room for JELL-O"? Well, that's how I feel about Stratovarius. No matter how heavy the music that I may listen to; with the loudest screams, the deepest growls, the thunderous guitars... I always have room for some Stratovarius. I love the soothing sounds and masterful music they can produce. Sure, they have some rocking tunes in their catalog and they're fantastic, but it's the more mellow offerings that I enjoy so much.

I was a bit concerned when I read all of those soap opera-like stories about them in the recent past... Hell, I was cursing and throwing fits! "What's happening with my Stratovarius? Is this the end of a great band?"

Well, now I can rest easy. Stratovarius has once again put out a wonderful album that any fan of Power Metal should own for themselves.

My only question may come from the first song, "Maniac Dance". As you can probably tell by the name, it's a bit different from the norm and sounds like a possible "radio hit" offering. It's not bad as far as talent and general sound, but it's just not how I like to picture Stratovarius. Others may disagree.

After that one however, we get back into what I feel more comfortable with. The second track, "Fight!!!" is an anthemic song that gets the head moving and blood flowing, while still being melodic as well as powerful.

From there, we have the famous Stratovarius sound: full of perfect harmonies, expert musicianship, and stellar vocals.

There's even a song titled, "Gotterdammerung". Try saying that three times fast! Hell, try saying it once! Great song, however.

I would have to say that my favorite track is "The Land Of Ice And Snow". Again, while I hate to stereotype anyone, it is a beautiful, mellow song that only Stratovarius could do properly.

All in all, I obviously recommend this album to all those fans of power or traditional metal. If you're looking for something to break your neck to or to body slam your friend while listening to, look elsewhere.

Great singing, expert musicianship and beautiful. Just like Stratovarius should be.
