Steve Vargas has been in some great bands and is now searching for another to make some waves.  Roberta recently asked some questions and we can now learn more about vocalist Steve Vargas!

Roberta:.How Did you all come together as a band? Were you friends first?

Steve: I have played with Ty Reading and Terry Brewster on past projects and we have been friends for years even when we involved in different groups.

Roberta: At what age did you play your first Instrument?

Steve: I started playing guitar at age 13.

Roberta: Descibe your music Style the Best you Can!!!

Steve: My style reflects my earlier influences.
I was a big fan of older guitar based hard rock Montrose, Pat Travers, UFO, Led Zeppelin, Mahogany Rush, Yesterday and Today and then got into the New Wave of British Heavy Metal - Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Saxon. In the early 80s I started getting into bands like Slayer, Armored Saint, Lizzy Borden, Hirax and Anthrax. My style ranges between early harder rock and late 80's heavy metal. I focus a lot on the structure of the song and they all have solo lead guitar spots that is more reminiscent of earlier metal.

Roberta: Who are your Biggest Influences in music?

Steve: Early Hard Rock and Metal  Montrose, Hendrix, Motorhead, anything and everything is an influence  lyrically and musically.

Roberta: Are there any shows scheduled for your band ? and will they be Local or Statewide?

Steve: We are planning on doing Northern California gigs with various outdoor shows this spring and summer. Currently we have plans to play only California shows that will include larger out door venues and bigger clubs in the San Francisco area. But that can change if we get airplay in other states.

Roberta: Who's the Songwriter in your band?

Steve: I am the main song writer in this band and its more or less a solo based project/band. Im going booking and recording under my name  Steve Vargas

Roberta: If you could chose any 3 bands to go on a massive tour with? Who would they be???

Steve: The Deftones, God Smack and ACDC

Roberta: Are their any plans for a C.D. coming out soon? or any other Projects that you are working on?

Steve: We are releasing a 4 song CD in March 2007

Roberta: Where was the first place, that you performed at?

Steve: My highschool in Palo Alto

Roberta: How Long have you all been Together as a Band?

Steve: 2 months in this band but I have been in projects with both members Ty Reading and T Bone for over 2 years.

Roberta: On the Whole, Do you feel there is too much attention paid to the Lyrics? rather than concentrating on the music! Which is where, its really at!

Steve: I found with the whole Death Metal thing  lyrics weren't important but viewed more as another instrument concentrating on tone rather than lyrical content..understatement!LOL I actually like an even mix and most songs that stick out and are timeless have that going for them. Its something I pursue - good lyrics that complement a solid hook.

Roberta: Where do you see yourself in Five years?

Steve: In five years I would like to be well known as a recording act. I have worked with various people that do the same set every night and book as many shows as possible. With XM radio, Pod Cast and the whole Digital domain, I think spreading music world wide is definitely more possible than it was years ago where bands toured non-stop just to be heard.

Roberta: Do you have any Groupies?

Steve: Yes they just dont know it yet!..LOL
Thank you, Steve Vargas - December 2006
