Anyone who takes the time to read my reviews (and thank you) knows when I fall into a group that gets me excited.
Not only do the reviews get a little longer, but I normally always mention "old school thrash" to the description.
Well.... here you go!
Prayers of Sanity comes to us from Portugal and have sent me a true gem that got my head banging and nipples hard. Sure, I'm a guy... but it happens! Any old fogie like myself who came up with Slayer, Metallica, Testament and the like.... can easily get excited when a newer band suddenly hits with an album like this that brings us back to those glory days.
It all starts off with the first (and title) song, "Religion Blindness". From the first bit of noise, it's obvious that these guys have the same musical heroes as myself.
This is old-school thrash from start to finish and will leave you nostalgic and happy.
The second song "Waiting on Death Row" may seem like a gangsta rap title, but is one of my favorites. This is the one I play most often.
But as stated before, the entire album makes me giddy with the thought that bands are still out there hammering away at keeping the style of music that I love most alive and well.
Many "newer" bands may bring the term THRASH into their description, but it's always followed by "and making it modern". To Hell with that! We've already lived through the best, so why change it? Prayers of Sanity have shown that there is no need to change the formula. It can continue on with new blood and enthusiasm without getting old. I'm sure there are plenty of people like me in the world who will truly enjoy this album and praise the new generation for keeping it alive!
