Preaching To The Godless is another one of those bands I've recently discovered that truly interests me as far as seeing what they will have to offer next and what their future holds.
They have a great song titled Warface out now and more songs to come in the near future. They were cool enough to not only send me an early copy of that song, but also to answer a few questions so that we may learn more about the band. So..... why would a band member get the nickname Rotten Crotch? Read on and find out......
D-Day: Thank you for speaking with D-Day's Revenge!
PTTG: no problem happy to do it
D-Day: Tell us a little about your history. How did PTTG get together?
PTTG: I wanted to start a old school type of thrash band . not in to the nu metal so much . so i stated looking for angry minded people like my self. found everybody. then had band trouble . had to let some people go but i carried on with my bass player george. and we keepED it together. had no luck for awhile. then we met tad are singer and he is the perfect fit so. from there we redid warface and its stonger now than ever. still need a perm drummer though. haha know anyone???
D-Day: What was your inspiration for getting into music?
PTTG: chicks haha nope it was chicks. at first . but now its making and giving the thrash metal the time and respect it deserves and dont forget chicks
D-Day: If you could choose any 3 bands to tour with worldwide, who would they be and why?
PTTG: thats easy overkill.slayer and pantera. overkill because they always been my fav band since i was 14. they stay true to there roots never stray with the trends . i love that . slayer because you know you have arrived when your with slayer sooo bad ass and pantera because dime is god and will live forever because i wont let him die . and there would be alot of chicks and beer thats always a ++++++
D-Day: You've got some new material coming out and Merrit Gant from Overkill history is involved. Can you explain that process and how did that all come about?
PTTG: i knew merrit lived in my home town but he was hard to find really hard to find . i knew if i could find him mabey i could get him to teach me all the metal guitar tricks and make me a great player like him. had no luck the one day i was talking to a studio owner and he told me merrit had a new studio in town . cha ching. i went in for lessons and told him i wanted to record a song . i dont think he was to impressed with me . just another fast guitar player looking to get overkill fame from him . then when i went in to the studio he was so cool and laid back he was great and when i played the song he really dug what i was doing . liked that i had a pro atitude too . then like a week later he told me that he would put his name on this project and he would help us anyway he could . and would like to produce our c.d . he even got the studio drummer for us so we wouldnt be held back from finishing this song. so he has been great and this cd will be to because hes putting his all into it and so are we.
D-Day: When can we expect an EP or album to come out?
PTTG: new song the UNGODLY. which is also the album title .will be out in less than 3 weeks . the whole cd will be here in july i think the 16 we are planing to finish it up will be 9 songs and it will be our thrasherpeice
D-Day: What about shows? Anything in the works or planned?
PTTG: got local shows comming up . things are a little slowed right now because of drummer issues. but merrit has some people for us to audition and some local thrashers. as soon as we find the right band member then its game over . p.t.t.g will be out and about . . but for now i have like 8 local shows here and around philly using a studio drummer still bad ass
D-Day: You can't get away from a D-Day interview without a multiple choice question:
I'll break out an oldie that not everyone has even answered.
Preaching To The Godless is invited to participate in a new reality show called Fear Factor For Rock Stars.
You are actually given a choice for one of your final rounds. Which would you choose and why?
a) Play a show for a crowd of militant vegans while wearing nothing but strategically placed slabs of raw meat.
b) Stand front row center at a Great Kat concert and between each song yell, "Chicks can't play guitar!"
c) Halfway through a Slayer set, when the crowd is good and pumped up, you are invited to get onstage to perform. You then must play the Debbie Boone classic "You Light Up My Life"
PTTG: definitly a . anything to piss of a vegitarian. fucking assholes i dont eat meat because im better than you , i love the planet and im a fag.i wont eat a steak but ill take a load down the old tunnel of love. they piss me off so that would be a great show . id stop in the middle and have a big mac then finish the song just to piss them off
D-Day: Every band goes through some sort of craziness or Spinal Tap type moments. What has been the most wierd or fucked up thing you've experienced so far? Any zany fan story, equipment or wardrobe malfunction, someone shit their pants etc.. you get the idea.
PTTG: at this one show my freind and guitar tec . had worked allday took like five steamy shits thats what he said and the end of the night he got a patch chaser aka. grupie to go down on him the smell made her sick and she threw up all down his pants . all over the front it was great. then he had to stay and help put all the gear away. now his name is r/c for rotten crotch that dirty bastard . got to give him some kudos for not caring that he was a smelly fuck and still tried to get some thats my dude. old rotten crotch
D-Day: What is the main goal for Preaching to The Godless?
PTTG: our main goal is not to be big rocks stars or anything like that dont care much about that its to make the music me and my band would be like hey you have to listen to this. its has to be nasty and without compromise. just pure fucking thrash metal.and we will reach and excead our goal and dreams because we live breath and shit this music. all day all night for our whole lives its been this kind of metal and it will be till were all dead and gone thrash till death
D-Day: Thank you once again for taking the time to speak with us. Any final words or plugs for the fans?
PTTG: no plugs but i would like to say that this music its to the core and any true lover of this music will come to know us. just like we all found the other great thrash and metal band of the past and the future. and wiTH help from you and everybody who has took the time to listen to us because we are what they want PURE UNDYING .
