Of Infinity
"The Essence Of Infinity" ep
Independant
By: D-Day

Of Infinity has probably hit the right idea with promoting themselves as a "Powerful Female-Fronted Melodic Metal" band. Considering the recent explosion of Evanescence and new popularity for Lacuna Coil, it is only smart to advertise this fact. Being a fan of bands like Lacuna Coil and Nightwish, I was eager to hear how Of Infinity sounded. I often troll the internet stations in search of categories like the "Prog/Power" station on icebergradio.com to hear some more obscure bands of this genre for the different, soothing effect they offer. There is some beautiful music out there if you know where to find it. Now I can add Of Infinity to that list. While I was honestly a little scepticle at first by the mention of "Goth" in reference to the band, (we all know how I love to tease them and hippies) I was honestly blown away by the sound.

Speaking of the word beautiful, that is the word that best describes vocalist Alessandra Zinicola's voice. Add to that the expert playing of guitarist Nazereth Sando and bassist Kurtis Kyllo and the chemistry is amazing.  (Current drummer Carlos Teller was not on the album, but I'm sure he wouldn't be in the band now if he could not play it...)

The EP has three songs:

1. The Voice Without
2. Shadow Of A Lie
3. It's Only For Forever

While it would be expected that "Shadow Of A Lie" would be my favorite due to the crunch factor, I would have to say "The Voice Without" gets the most playtime for me. That's where the vocals are at their sweetest and as I said earlier, I love that shit on occasion. The entire disc is great, however, and if you're into the sound of the bands mentioned earlier and are looking for more, try Of Infinity. You may just add them to your list as well. Beautiful vocals, great musicianship, and the album is put together as if it were on a major label already.

As much as I hate to say things too similar to other sites, I must mirror the question being asked by the other 'zines in their reviews section: Why aren't they signed yet?
