D-Day speaks with Northrock!
D-Day's Revenge...
Speak your Mind!
While spending plenty of time on MySpace these days (ssshhhh...) I have great access to meeting plenty of bands, artists, etc that are making plenty of noise. Northrock seems to already have a nice following but deserves to have even more. He's a very talented musician and I think we'll be hearing more out of him in the near future. Be sure to check out his links for music and info after enjoying this read...

D-Day: So where does the name Northrock come from? Is it because of where you live?

NorthRock: Yes, it’s more or less about were I live and who I am. I came up with the name several years ago and it just sort of stuck.

D-Day: You are listed as doing all of your own music, do you ever perform with a backing band?

NorthRock: So far with the NorthRock project I have not preformed with a backing band but that is in the works now.

D-Day: How would you describe your style to any curious fans out there?

NorthRock: Instrumental of course and a mixture of metal, underground, and progressive. A bit of the new and some old school.

D-Day: For how long have you been playing music?

NorthRock: I started playing at the age of 12 but I hate to date myself, lets just say a long time!

D-Day: If you had the chance to tour with your choice of any three acts or bands, who would they be and why?

NorthRock: Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and Ozzy  And why, because they seem to have the energy that gets me going big time. I think it would be awesome to tour with them.

D-Day: Are you currently at work on any new music? Tell us about that.

NorthRock: Yes. I am working on new material that will be along the same lines as the past few songs. I’d like to stream line my sound a bit better. That’s were the backup band will come in and many more hours of warm-ups an practice of course. My time is limited so far but soon I will have a better schedule and I think things will be turning out a lot better musically.

D-Day: You also work on a Northrock comic. Tell us about that as well.

NorthRock: I have not had the time as yet to continue that comic but hope to get it going by fall, maybe early winter of this year. I would like to make it a continuing series perhaps on a monthly basis.

D-Day: Are you currently looking to sign with a label?

NorthRock: I have some offers but I have not decided yet. I’m considering taking this project completely indie but we will see.

D-Day: What's the craziest thing that has happened during a performance or from a fan? Any tales to tell yet?

NorthRock: There have been a few crazy times but the one that I remember most was a band I played in a few years back. The lead singer/rhythm guitar came on drunk and like was just a mess! He even dropped the guitar on the stage and a lot of stumbling around but the crowed loved it. I think they thought it was part of the show. It was really outrageous that night.

D-Day: Lets say a fellow approaches you about playing on your album. When asked about instruments, he says he is a proffesional triangle player. Which of these choices would be your answer to him?

a) You politely decline and keep his spirits up.

b) You laugh in his face and tell him he sucks.

c) Same as answer "b" but with a wedgie included.

d) You realize that a triangle could sound great in some of your music and hire him on the spot.

NorthRock: Hahaha, Ok…I’m going to go with, a.

D-Day: Where do you see yourself in five years from now?

NorthRock: I see a lot of touring, CD’s and lots of media! I plan on turning this in to a very big production.

D-Day: Thank you for speaking with us! Any final words for the readers?

NorthRock: Come on by and check me out at myspace.com/northrockmusic and if you like what you hear spread the word. I am currently offering my latest work for free download so be sure to get that and what ever you listen to, support the crap out of your favorite bands! Myspace is a great place to do that because you can link to your favorites and support them by constant playing of their tunes and comments up the wazoo! And believe me, we really do need and appreciate the support because without you guys we are nothing!
