D-Day speaks to Lynn of Most Metal Mortal
D-Day's Revenge...
Speak Your Mind!
Meet Lynn! She is the owner and runs the contest page at MySpace called Most Metal Mortal as well as Metal Ryche and Beautiful Bitches That Rock.
There are millions of contests that range from everything from "best booty" to "most cute couple", so it's refreshing to see something geared for metalheads and metal bands out there.
I decided that this would be a cool new avenue to take for an interview for my World Of Rock section here at D-Day's Revenge and she certainly doesn't disappoint.
Enjoy the read!

D-Day: How long have you had the Most Metal Mortal contest running now?

Lynn: About 7-8 Months.

D-Day: What was the inspiration for the contest?

Lynn: Wow, well I have a band page where I run music contests for metal/rock original bands  (http://www.myspace.com/themetalryche) and wanted to do something that brought fellow metal music lovers together as well.  It’s a dying breed in my town, as well as the music.  I thought it would be fun to bring the individuals together instead of just the musicians. There are a lot of sites out there that have contests for most rock/metal etc but don’t live up to their word and let the beauty and/or popularity get in the way and that is the basis of both of my music sites, keeping it real.
I have made many friends on myspace that are truly trying to get the metal music heard and promoted because of the experience they have in the business and their incredible passion. Wicked D, Yvonne’s World and 667 Entertainment to name a few. Check out the http://www.myspace.com/metalmusicpromotions it’s a site that has people on there to help the music be heard again and is a site I am just getting my feet wet in and will be further involved in the future.

D-Day: Are you also involved in other contests?

Lynn: Yes. The Metal Ryche I mentioned above is a passion of mine and that has been up for about a year and a half.  It’s just a site to get the original bands heard, I prefer non signed bands.
I run the Beautiful Bitches That Rock (http://www.myspace.com/beautynbitches ). I took that site over after the creator couldn’t run it anymore and I couldn’t see closing it down when there are so many friends on that site that love the contest, so I run it for them. That site is on hold at the moment because I need to devote my time to the music sites because that is where my passion lies.

D-Day: Do you take care of everything yourself or do you also have other people that go onto your page to help take care of things?

Lynn:  I do almost all of the work myself.  Ali Kat did my profile page on the Most Metal Mortal to smooth out the html codes on the page and made me the newer frames. Other than that it’s all me baby!

D-Day: What individual contests are on Most Metal Mortal?

Lynn: Right now it’s just the Most Metal Mortal of the week….which is now bi-weekly.  There used to be a Most Mortal of the Month separate for men and women but I wasn’t getting enough feedback on it.

D-Day: I know that there are plenty of people who don't read the rules and there are times that MySpace shows errors when trying to leave comments so people will try again only to end up leaving more than one vote accidentally. But have you also experienced outright cheating?

Lynn: Yes I have. I’ve written numerous bulletins on it and blogs…all people have to do is read.  You’d be surprised how many people ask me why they can’t vote, how do  I enter etc. It’s really annoying. Sometimes I’ll email them back if I’m feeling nice that day, other times I ignore it.  I cannot tolerate ignorance.

D-Day: Have you ever had to take away someone's win because of cheating?

Lynn: No but I have prolonged contests to give people more of a chance and I have deleted some outright cheaters that were voters not contestants themselves.  I also made the Monthly contests to give the people who didn’t win another chance and limited multiple site owners to only vote from 2 of their sites. I try everything I can to avoid the cheating but I’m only one person and it slips through the cracks sometimes. It’s a shame because it’s for fun and people that cheat aren’t in it for the real deal. Also I’d like to add this site is not a popularity or beauty contest and a lot of people still don’t get it. I’m not looking for half naked pics or people with a lot of friends to vote.   I’m asking people to vote on who they think is the “most metalist” which is why my present contestants are up in my top 8 and why it’s both men and women running.  I would say maybe 5% actually look.  It’s a goal of mine to get more people to do it!

D-Day: Do you recall the most votes any individual has gotten in a win?

Lynn:  I believe it was 176 votes total for Laura Metalatina.

D-Day: Many people in the contest are in bands. Do you find that to be a large percentage of your nominees?

Lynn: No. I believe it’s less than half and if a person in a band applies I always refer them to my Metal Ryche site to have the chance of their band being heard.

D-Day: What is your biggest satisfaction from running this contest?

Lynn:  Meeting cool people who share the same passion for the music and aren’t in it for popularity or for looks!

D-Day: Thank you for your time! Do you have any final words for the fans out there?

Lynn: First off, thank you D-Day for this interview, I really appreciate it. As for the advice…Yes…stay true to the music you love, support your original bands and don’t follow the trends! Be yourself and remember whose site is for the REAL PEOPLE…MOST METAL MORTAL!!!
