As with many things in nature, that which is beautiful can also bite you. That's the feeling I get when seeing Lady Moon and then listening to her music. This talented young lady was kind enough to answer a few questions and share them with the readers. Enjoy the read and then be sure to check in on her from time to time to see whats happening....
D-Day: Thanks for sharing with the Revenge readers! You have a very dark and doomy sound. Where did this originate for you?
LM: Thank you! I'm glad to be a part of this. Between my guitarist, Mike & myself I influenced Mike to play lighter, because he was used to playing more of a metal/thrashy sound. We balance eachother out. Mike brings out the darker side in me.
D-Day: How long have you been performing?
LM: I had a few performances w/ Lady Moon, & made a couple of guest appearances for guest vocals for Trails Of Blood in '06. Now, we are focusing on recording our 1st full-length cd.
D-Day: You currently have four songs available at your MySpace page which a link will be posted for at the end of this interview, and you are now working on new material. Can you give us some information about that and when we will be able to hear it?
LM: The new material will still be haunting, dreamy, & atmospheric. There will be more singing, & perhaps some spoken word, if i feel it at the time of recording. The music we could expect some mysical/magical elements, some doom/metal/goth, & some heavier, & dancier tracks. We hope to have the cd complete by summer/fall.
D-Day: How about performances? Do you have anything planned for the near future?
LM: Once the cd is finished, we'll have a cd release party~a goth BBQ is in the works. Then we will recrute some band members, so that we could book some gigs.
D-Day: If you could choose any three curent acts to tour with, who would they be and why?
LM: I'd just be happy to perform w/ anyone~no one in particular, because, refer to previous question.
D-Day: Are you interested in being signed to a label at this time?
LM: If it comes to that~yes. Right now, I have to focus on recording. I really can't think that far ahead just yet.
D-Day: How do you feel about music downloading? Do you see it as advertisement or stealing?
LM: It's supposed to be advertising, but i could see both sides of the coin. As just a fan, yeah, it's awesome to get some music. On the flip side from an artist's perspective, it makes it difficult for new & independent artists to make any money on their hard work.
D-Day: Has there been any strange or funny moments you could share with us that may have happened during your sets? Any whackiness from the crowd, Spinal Tap moments, you get the idea.
LM: One time i had a fang pop out of my mouth, in the middle of a song, i just put it in my hand, & went on w/ the show. Thank goth no one noticed! LOL
D-Day: Lets say you sign with an agent who promises to make you loads of money. He then tells you that you should dress in bright clothes and sing pop songs. Which of the following would be your response?
a) You do as he says and open a new bank account in anticipation.
b) You give him a swift kick in the balls.
c) You call up your fans and offer him up for sacrifice.
d) other
LM: I choose D~ I'd walk out. I don't fall for mainstream! Never have, never will. I believe in being dark, haunting, & underground. That's who I am, & that's what I'm about.
D-Day: Where do you se yourself in five years?
LM: Hopefully I'll have my book of poetry completed, I'd like to see a whole Lady Moon line of clothing, accessories, & Lady Moon comics.
D-Day: Thanks again for speaking with us; any final words for the readers?
LM: Thank you very much for your time! A few other projects: Our song "Karma's Curse" will be featured on a Halloween/horror compilation w/ Midnight Syndicate & others. For more info. go to www.blackcat13magazine.com
I'm working on guest vocals for a black metal project w/ Key Of Mythras, & Trails Of Blood. If you like things heavy, check out both bands on myspace.
Oh, a big thanks goes out to you, D~ & all my friends. The love & support from all of you such amazing people! Bloody kisses, nibbles, & bites~
