D-Day speaks to Deirdra
D-Day's Revenge...
Speak your mind!
In my quest to find people that work at some level in the world of rock and roll, I had a great idea for this interview. I already wanted to interview Danger for the main band section, so why not ask the promoter for this one and make it a "double" for the world of Danger.
Well, Dierdra was kind enough to agree to answer some questions and we can all learn more about the life of a band promoter!
Enjoy...

D-Day: Thank you for speaking with D-Day's Revenge! Can you start by telling us your title?

Deirdra: Intern for Mule Media representing Danger with their permission of course.

D-Day: Is Danger your only band right now or do you also represent others?

Deirdra: At the present there are others but not as extensive as Danger.

D-Day: What would be a quick glimpse into your life be like promoting bands?

Deirdra: At the moment - my life is very hectic as promoting is not my only job. In time I would like promoting to be a full time job but to be devoted completely to Danger. When I believe in something as strong as the band Danger then that is where my priorities lie.

D-Day: You're obviously in a separate country from Danger. What problems (if any) does this create?

Deirdra: At first, communication was hard but we all work together and that isn't a concern any longer. Many means of communication have been established and everything has worked out extraordinarily well. I really wish that Sweden wasn't that far away but it gives me a chance to travel and to learn about the band and also about their way of life as in comparison to my own. Once again - a very big tool that I will need as time progresses.

D-Day: If Danger were to start touring North America, would you join them on any stops?

Deirdra: That is a good one!!! Just try and stop me. I want to be there from the beginning and stay until the last concert is performed. There is so much to see and learn - how could one not want to be there???

D-Day: What is the hardest part of promoting bands?

Deirdra: I don't believe hardest is the appropriate word. I would like to say challenging. Everyday something new comes my way and it is a task that I will dive into and do the best that I can in order to make things happen for the band. Whether it be a announcement about airplay by a new Indie radio station or a new song that Danger has brought out for all to hear or a new design of my own called Team Danger (others call a street team). Promotion and a fan base is a absolute huge part of their developement and needs the constant attention in order for Danger to be known.

D-Day: How has the internet helped you?

Deirdra: Internet has been a God sent for me. Without that - I would have never had met Danger and I contribute that meeting to Myspace. Myspace is a very valuable key to being introduced to many Indie bands. It is also a valuable advertising tool for all of those friends that make your fan base start and grow. Bulletins and blogs and that constant updating of sites - again - is essential. The ability to show people the music that you have to offer is crucial. People need to listen and be able to express their opinion. Also a website is a tool that is much more extensive and should never be overlooked. Danger is in the process of building one as we speak.

D-Day: Were you ever involved with bands when you went out and stapled flyers to poles and taped them in windows?

Deirdra: Just in the last couple of years I have become more involved in the music scene and no - I have never taped or stapled flyers. Don't really need that much these days.

D-Day: What are your thoughts on the metal scene today? Were you always into the glam scene?

Deirdra: Metal and glam have always been a part of my music world but not like it is now. I love the big hair and the spandex. When Bon Jovi and Aerosmith first started - well hey - they won my heart. Today Danger has won my heart. Not just the glam look but with the music and how it has been presented. You have 5 men that put their heart and soul into every piece that you hear and that says a story right there.

D-Day: What would be your main advice for someone wanting to get into the promotion business?

Deirdra: Make sure that you believe in what you are promoting! Make sure everthing is being done legally and don't go by a wing and a prayer. Do alot of research into the band that you are helping and make sure that it is the right decision. You don't have to take just anyone - it is your choice as to who you would like to help. But above all - enjoy it and be happy. This could be a life time commitement to one band. This could be your new life so make it what you want. I love what I have and I plan on keeping Danger in my life for a very long time.

D-Day: Thank you so much for sharing with us. Any final words for the fans out there?

Deirdra: I would like to extend an invitation to come over to myspace to Danger's and Deirdra's sites so that you may have a taste of that awesome music. Whether you are a friend or fan or a new person looking for that different edge in music - maybe this band will win your heart as it did mine and if you have free time and want to lend a hand in your area - become a Team Leader for Team Danger. Just send me (Deirdra) a message and I will get you set up to rock and roll with Danger.
