Interview with DjChrissy!
D-Day's Revenge...
Speak Your Mind!
What better way to start this new section than to interview a wonderful woman in the same similar field as myself? Let's all see how DJ Chrissy explains her thoughts on the field of writing about the metal world as well as DJ'ing for a metal station.
Enjoy

D-Day: Hi, and thanks for talking with D-Day's Revenge. Could you start by telling us your name and where you're from?

Chrissy:  My name is Chrissy...we'll leave it at just that. I'm originally from Rome, Italy. I now live in Ohio. But hope to go back home someday soon.

D-Day: Tell us about Metal Storm Monthly. Is that a monthly magazine that's just online or something off the shelf as well?

Chrisy: It's a print magazine that is soon to take over the globe, baby! It can be found online at www.metalstormmonthly.com It is an amazing publication. And I am so extremely happy and thankful to be a part of it. Tony and Tiffany have already accomplished so much. They are so easy going and talented. I feel truly honored.

D-Day: What is your role at the magazine?

Chrissy: I'm the "midwest correspondent".

D-Day: How about your DJ duties? Tell us about that.

Chrissy:  I promote unsigned bands on a station out of Florida called JAAP. Good bunch of fellow Italians..DJ Kat and DJ Hardcore Jeff. When they started this station, they gave me the opportunity. We are family in every sense of the word. But anyway, I search for unsigned bands and promote them and their music. And just really have a good time on the air. I tend to be a bit goofy and maybe graphic at times. But it's all in good fun. Nothing serious. The only serious thing is getting band's music heard.

D-Day: What has been the most exciting thing that you've been involved in during your time at those jobs? Certain band, or interview etc....

Chrissy: Help bands gets the recognition they deserve. And hearing such good music from so many talented people from all over the world. It's quite a united community in the underground. I've enjoyed many interviews. Probably the best have been talking with Azygous (Nick is quite laid back but dynamic onstage0, Wretched Asylum (Phil and Michael are immensely talented and intelligent, quite a lethal but winning combo; I'm sure teh rest are equally so but I haven't talked to all of them..well Ryan..he is a bit reserved during an interview but still good), A Band of Orcs (an interesting, talented, strange bunch!), Darkness Foretold (again talented and hard working), T.H.O.R.N(young,quiet bunch)., Knucklebath (BLUE AND CHRISSY! the best), Retribution (Ryan rocks!), Lost at Last (Norway's finest). And one of my fav bands...Face Down Hero....they are a german band that are full of insanity, Becks, and amazing talent. They are not the typical "hard-ass" germans, one would expect to find....so many! (sorry if I missed some...too many to mention!) But a lot of them have become friends. I know and respect them, their families, girlfriends, etc... My only motivation in this job is to promote them, not to hook up or promote myself. That is probably why this interview, for me, is a bit uncomfy. I like my privacy and would rather push the bands into the spotlight. What I am all about is not important. I mean, if someone asks, fine. But my page on myspace, the dj job, MSM...whatever ..is about THEM. I find the talent and the intelligence behind it exciting. And to think that I have a part in all of it...WOW! How lucky I am! Truly.

D-Day: How did you get involved at MSM?

Chrisy:  I saw a bulletin about them wanting people to submit something for their magazine. So, I gave it a shot.

D-Day: Do you strive to find bands at a certain level or does the magazine cover everyone?

Chrissy: The magazine gives everyone coverage. The "boss" decides on who will be on the cover. The bands need to send in a press kit and as much info as possible for consideration. But my column is about what is going on in the midwest, concerts, attitude, etc....

D-Day: What are your goals for the magazine, or your role in it?

Chrisy:  I want it to be the biggest publication ever! I hope to improve with each and every column. And to be a part of it, in any way, is again a huge honor. I am surrounded by people who have so much talent and experience. I am constantly thankful, amazed, and bewildered that somehow I have found a place among them. I hope to be with them for ..well forever... as long as MSM is around (which will be forever!) and as long as they will have me.

D-Day: Do you also have a "regular day job"?

Chrisy:  Of course! I've had some minor set-backs due to spinal surgery and my gram having a stroke. I take care of her in my spare time. So, that limits me going to venues right now. But family must come first. Plus, I am retraining in martial arts. I am still a 3rd degree black belt and enjoy teaching classes. I am lucky that my day job is something I love, too.

D-Day: Thank you for taking some time with us. Do you have any final words, plugs etc?

Chrissy:  Listen to Jaap @ www.djhardcorejeff.com...and make sure to get your subscription to Metal Storm Monthly...also check them out at www.metalstormmonthly . Also, check out my dear friend Omar @ rockhardwebsites.com. He does some amazing work! Oh and one last thing, society better get used to the underground. We are not going anywhere. In fact, our voices are getting stronger and we are united. We will not be denied! And thank you! It's been enjoyable...not comfy..but enjoyable. ; )
